Meet the ESP32-S3 Brain
Welcome to the MyBot build! The ESP32-S3 microcontroller is the main brain of your robot. It mounts directly onto your main breadboard and powers all components.
What is a microcontroller? A microcontroller is a tiny computer on a single chip. While your laptop has a separate CPU, RAM, storage, and Wi-Fi module, the ESP32-S3 packs ALL of that onto one chip smaller than your thumbnail. It runs at 160 MHz and costs just $3!
How pins work: Pins are how the chip talks to the physical world. Power pins (3.3V, 5V, GND) supply electrical energy. GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output) pins send or receive signals to sensors and motors.
Out of the box, your ESP32-S3 is preprogrammed to play an iconic Mario jingle through the speaker as soon as it boots up!
